RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR
MEMBERSHIP
OF THE SOCIETY
Members' Subscriptions: New members
join at an affiliation fee of R60,00 and an annual subscription of R500,00
payable in advance. Where a member breeds both Dorpers and White
Dorpers, each stud must be registered separately. Members who join
within the first seven months of the financial year pay full annual subscription
and the subscription is divided pro rata for those who join in the last
five months of the financial year.
Travelling and Inspection:
Inspectors are appointed for the various areas and they travel at the rate
of R1,70 per kilometre. Inspections cost R200,00 per day and R15,00
for classing per 100 sheep, 15 cents per sheep inspected, R7,50 per ram
and R1,50 per ewe approved and R3,00 per ram and 95 cents per ewe tagged
flock. A member requiring inspection must arrange it himself
with his nearest inspector.
Accounts must be paid before participating
in any activities.
Annual Subscriptions: All annual subscriptions
are payable in advance and all other costs within 60 days. The annual
subscription is payable in advance on 1 April of each year and will be
regarded as in arrears if it has not been paid on 1 July of the same year.
Where a subscription has not been paid on 1 July of any financial year,
the member concerned will be scratched as a member of the Society and his
account will be handed to an attorney for the collection of his debts.
Transfer of Membership: Membership
may only be transferred (with code number) if a son or son-in-law takes
over from his father.
Resignations: If a breeder wishes to
resign as a member of the Society it must be done in writing and per registered
post at least 30 days before the end of the financial year, which closes
on 31 March annually and his subscription for that year must be paid up.
The resigning member must also return his Eartags and Inspection
Certificate Book to the Society's office without reimbursement.
Sales Entries: No sales entries will
be accepted if an inspection has not been done within the past two years
before the closing date of that sale. Where it is not possible to
have an inspection done because of drought conditions, permission for postponement
can be obtained from the Council on the recommendation of the relevant
inspector.
Special Sales: Members may sell at
special sales provided the animals are tagged and inspected. A person
violating the rule will be suspended as member. A member may sell
a maximum of 15 animals in total at such a sale. Should more than
one member participate, a total of maximum 25 animals (dorpers and white
dorpers) may be offered.
Central Inspection: Rams may
be brought to a central point in various areas twice a year for inspection
which will be undertaken by two inspectors of the Society.
Minimum Age: The minimum age for classing
and approval of rams and ewes is ten months.
Export: All Dorper sheep which are
exported must first be tagged by an Inspector of the Society Stud or Flock.
The procedure as laid down by the Society on the instructions of SA Stud
Book must be observed. For export purposes an exception may be made
and younger animals may be taffed F provided that the office as been notified.
Club Membership:
Club members may only join the Club in the
area in which they live.
Where members live on Club boundaries, the
choice of Club lies with them.
A member of the Society who has a bona fide
Dorper or White Dorper farming enterprise in more than one region, may
be a member of the Club in each of the regions involved.
Shows: No animal may be exhibited at
shows held under the auspices of the Dorper Breeders' Society of South
Africa unless it is the bona fide property of the exhibitor.
National Championship Shows: Combined
Dorper and White Dorper National Championship Shows will be held every
second year.
Regional Championship Shows: Regional
shows will also be combined and will be held in the year when there is
no National Championship Show. Applications must reach the office
before 5 June of the previous year.
Motions: All motions for the Annual
General Meeting must be sent to the office before 5 June as well as all
SAles Dates and Dorper Course DAtes for the following year.
Judges Exams: Any member who is interested
in a Judges Exam must send his name to the office.
Dorper Courses: The Council of this
Society strongly recommends that all members should attend Dorper courses.
Private Sales will only be approved
if application is made to the office BEFORE 5 JUNE of the preceding
year. No member/members of the Society may hold an unofficial sale.
